Her next single, “Banks of Ohio,” reached the top ten in the United Kingdom and Australia. The magazine Record Mirror named her Best British Female Vocalist two years in a row.

Olivia, Newton-second John’s UK album, was released in 1972 but was never formally released in the United States. Subsequent songs such as “Banks of Ohio,” as well as remakes of George Harrison’s “What Is Life” and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” had little influence on the Hot 100.

Her second American album, titled Let Me Be after that famous track, was her third in the United Kingdom, where it was titled Music Makes My Day. With the song “Long Live Love,” Newton-John represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. The British people picked the piece out of six eligible entries for Newton-John.

In the United States and Canada, Long Live Love’s album was published under the title If You Love Me, Let Me Know. To capitalize on the success of “Let Me Be There,” all of the Eurovision songs were withdrawn in favor of other and more country-flavored tracks.
