DCU Creature Commandos Cast and Release Date [Exclusive]

If you are a fan of the superheroes genre, then you must have heard about Creature Commandos.

Creature Commandos is an animated series. It is written by the CEO himself, James Gunn.

The best part about the series is that the character can move in and out of the animation.

Since the same actor will be giving the voiceover in the series and also playing the live-action roles.

Creature Commandos was created by JM DeMatteis and Pat Broderick on November 1980 and made their first appearance in the comic issue #93 Weird War Tales.

Moreover, Creature Commandos is a team of superhuman military teams similar to suicide squads.

So cast featuring the Creature Commandos are:

Frank Grillo

Frank Grillo, who many of you know as a Cross Bone from the MCU movie, Captain America Civil War.

He will be playing the character called Rick Flag Sr, in the upcoming DCU project not just Creature Commandos.

The interesting fact about Frank Grillo is he left the MCU after his character was underutilized.

During the interview, he felt said that MCU did an injustice to his character and there was much more to offer.

Maria Bakalova

Maria Bakalova will be playing the character of Princess Ilanda Rostovic. Many of the superhero’s fans may not know her.

But she voiced the character of a space dog named Cosmo in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Sean Gunn

There is not a single person who does not recognizes James Gunn’s brother, Sean Gunn.

In this series, Sean will provide the voice of the character called GI Robert.

Alan Tudyk

Alan Tudyk is an American actor who will play the role of Dr. Phosphorus in the animated series.

David Harbour

He is the only old addition to this new superhuman military team of Creature Commandos.

What To Expect From Creature Commandos In New DCU Timeline

The new DCU timeline is created after the movie, The Flash as it reboots some of the characters from DCEU.

However, it opens a whole new opportunity for James Gunn to imbed the new storyline. Hence, the Creature Commandos is one of those animated series.

As per the CEO, James Gunn, and Peter Safran, the animated series will be similar to The Suicide Squad.

Furthermore, the Creature Commandos series will take place during the time of World War II. The main plot of this series is centered around Rick Flag Senior.

In addition, the creature commandos will be the prequel story of Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad character (Rick Flag).

Hence, it can be used as an expansion of the Task Force project before the Justice League storyline.

Creature Commandos Release Date

As per James Gunn’s announcement, Creature Commandos is the first project of the Chapter Gods and Monsters.

However, it will not be coming anytime soon as there are multiple projects to be released from the old regime like Flash, Aquaman The Last Kingdom, and The Blue Beetle.

Although, all seven episodes of The Creature Commandos are already written by the man James Gunn himself.

Fans will have to wait till mid-2025 for this magnificent animated series. It is expected to be released after the DCU’s mega-movie Superman Legacy.

The viewers must be considering where to watch Creature Commandos, well it will be released on the streaming platform, HBO Max.
