Guajardo was the right-hand man to Pablo Acosta Villarreal, a Mexican narcotics smuggler who controlled crime along a 200-mile stretch of U.S.-Mexico border and was killed in April 1987 during a cross-border aid by Mexican Federal Police helicopters in the Rio Grande village of Santa Elena, Chihuahua.

Villarreal was also smuggling 60 tons of cocaine per year of the Columbians at the height of his power and was also the mentor and business partner of Amando Carrillo Fuentes, who took over after Ascota’s death.

The Mexican drug lord, Rafael made Amado Carillo Fuentes, who was also a Mexican drug lord and known for laundering money through Columbia his second-in-command having taken over from Acosta.

In April 1987, Pablo was murdered and Rafael took his place. Then he chose Mexican drug lord Amado Carillo Fuentes as his right hand.
